Official Launch a Huge Success!

On 26 November 2006 Positive Heroes had it’s official launch at The Townhouse Hotel in Cape Town.

During the evening, Dr Reon van Dyk, Founder of Positive Heroes, stunned the audience with his reminder of the statistics of loss though inaction and ignorance. He reaffirmed his personal belief that this tide will ultimately turn through inclusion, information and action – the proof of this being the beaming Positive Heroes who were with us in the room. Reon announced the intention to have a Positive Heroes Comrades Ultra Marathon Team with all the runners living positively with HIV to bring into sharp focus that those living with HIV can reach their ultimate goals.

Khosi from Move! magazine spoke candidly of the fact that South Africans are literally ‘dying of embarrassment’. and vowed that all at Move! will continue to do their utmost to shine a light on stigmatisation and work to exposing a disease that is killing her friends, colleagues and peers.

Finally Clive Fox moved the audience with his description of a life enriched by his diagnosis. He described of a renewed sense of purpose, and responsibility and his determination to be a daily example to the communities around him, through living a positive life.

The evening was a huge success and an auction raised over R53,000!
