This partnership’s aim is to promote the stories of South Africans who are leading ordinary and extraordinary lives – whist living positively with HIV, and to convey a powerful message of hope in the way HIV is viewed and lived with, by showing that HIV is a chronic manageable disease.

To launch this partnership Move! Magazine is featuring (issue on shelves 29 Oct) Positive Hero Evelina Tshabalala (43), diagnosed with HIV in 2003, who is living a life of inspirational proportions that has seen her conquer two of the Seven Summits of the world. Evelina is just one of many Positive Heroes among us, and Move! will strive to find more and share their stories with the women of South Africa.

Positive Heroes founding member Dr Reon van Dyk believes that “ Positive Heroes have he potential to save millions of lives in South Africa by telling their life stories of hope and thereby encouraging the uptake of HIV testing and adherence to therapy”

Move! Editor Khosi Zwane says “we are very excited about this partnership as this is our way of helping to reduce the fear, misinformation and stigma that still surrounds HIV.”
