Inter-Parliamentary Union Regional Training Seminar on HIV/AIDS

On 20 January 2009 Faghmeda Miller spoke movingly to the Inter-Parliamentary Union Regional Training Seminar in HIV/AIDS for the Parliaments of the SADC and EAC.

Faghmeda spoke about her fear and obstacles in disclosing her status and difficulties she faced within her family and community and how she persevered and became comfortable with her status. We were reminded how difficult and risky disclosing your HIV status can be as well as the benefits of doing so. Today Faghmeda is both supported by and held in the highest regard by her community.

The invitation was at the kind request of Gwen Mahlangu-Nkabinde MP, Speaker of the National Assembly and the evening directed by Hon Peggy Hollander Deputy Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces.
