In February and March we joined the Metro South Education Department for their HIV/AIDS Information Tour for Schools. Over a period of two weeks, five of our Heroes – Jeff Bosaki, Busi Maqungo, Mpakie Kadeni, Thabo Rini and Thami Thembu – spoke to over 4000 young and adult learners. They told their personal stories of living with HIV and answered hundreds of questions. Classroom sessions were followed by a quilting workshop during which the learners created collaborative panels around the subject of HIV/AIDS. These quilts are displayed each year in the classrooms we visit. We hope to conduct a second program in September!
